Hi
We are a group of student from Monash University South Africa. We are doing
a small project about getting log files from remote machines and come up
with stats from the logs. The machines are located in public places like
malls. Their job is to provide poeple with open source software . The publi=
c
come a burn cd's of the open software they want. In the machines there is a
log file, that records the time, date, and burnt software.
Our project is to get the log files from all the machines, put them in a
database. from the database come up with stats. In terms of what has been
burnt most, How many poeple use this type of software. We thought something
visible will be very powerful e.g a graphs
We are interested in using GNUplot to draw our stats graph to a webpage
using PHP and PERL, however we have no clue how the GNU plot works in terms
of what we want to do.
We have a machine that runs Ubuntu 5.10 and its also setup to run as a
server for both the database and the stats web page. Thats were our
development is going to be done from.
If you can give us some idea on how to go about using GNU plot.
-reading data from the database or .dat files to gnuplot
-where to put the files (.gp and .dat Files)
