[Gnuplot-info] encoding issue

hello,

i have some encoding issue with gnuplot.

1) my delete-key does not work. when i press it just some cryptic signs
appear but no sign is deleted.

2) when i first type in "" and then type between it some german signs like
(ue, oe, etc.) then  there appear just some cryptic signs, too.

is it an encoding issue? i have tested various encodings with "set encoding"

(i am running ubuntu dapper drake beta)
