This suggestion can be helpful. I use gnuplot 4.0.
It is observed that when plotting in postscript mode (' set term
postscript ') gnuplot empties the output file each time I enter the
postscript terminal. Eg,
suppose I am in x11 term.
next
set term postscript
next
set output 'out1.ps' (say)
next
replot(or other plotting commands)
next
set term x11
next
some other plotting command
next
set term postscript
At this point the previous file 'out1.ps' is blanked.
So if I now do
set output 'out2.ps' and give my plotting commands, i shall
get 'out2.ps' but a blank 'out1.ps' instead of the intended
one. This happens in a recurring fashion. I have to move
the 'ps' files I have created immediately to some other
directory to save them from blanking. This, I think is a
inconvenience. Many other gnuplot users also say the same thing. This
did not happen in the older versions i.e. less than
v 4.0.
If it is not a bug, it may be helpful to give up the above
strategy and not to touch the previous output files, whenever one enters
the postscript terminal, as older versions did.
Thank You very much for giving time.
