[Gnuplot-info] Basic Display

When I start gnuplot it says:

Terminal type set to 'x11'

Then I do something simple like:
gnuplot>x=5
gnuplot>plot sin(x)

I get a window that pops open for about 3 seconds with a graph on it
and then suddenly it crashes and I have to restart my computer because
it kills explorer and every application I have running.  Any help would
be appreciated.
