[Gnuplot-info] Incrementally updating a plot

Is there a way to add data points to an existing plot
by only plotting the new points?  This would be
extremely useful for real-time plotting of data
collection experiments.  Replotting the entire data
file becomes unwieldy and slow when the data set
grows...  The IDL (Interactive Data Language) package
by Research Systems Inc. has the "oplot" command to
overplot on an existing plot.

If this is not currently possible I'd sure like to
urge it's addition to future versions!

Gnuplot is truly a great package- thank you
developers/contributors.
