[Gnuplot-info] symbol font on png

Hi

I'm out of luck getting symbol fonts on a PNG term.
I work on Linux, and the symbol font was not available in my font path=
 (/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Type1).

So:
 I created a 'fonts' directory in my HOME, copied the Symbol.ttf from my=
 Windows box, issued 'ttmkfdir > fonts.scale' and 'mkfontdir', setenv the=
 GDFONTPATH to add my new fonts dir, and.... you guessed - does not work.=
 The only characters I get in my plots are squares (when using the symbol=
 font).

What is puzzling is that other ttf fonts copied from windows are working=
 when using the above process.
