[Gnuplot-info] plot with table

Hello,

Something is escaping to me.
I tried:

set table "out.asc"                                           
plot $DATA u (x=$1):(ampl*d_Lor_D (x-x0, W)+offset) with table  
unset table


But the number of samples is ignored while
plot $DATA u 1:2
replot ampl*d_Lor_D (x-x0, W)+offset
has the right number of sample

How can I fix the issue ?
