I think Lars Hecking is probably the only one with any hope of remembering exactly how the version 3.X pieces were handled when they were merged to create the SourceForge repository. I gather from the comments in the early commits that there were multiple "branches" (maybe not in the cvs sense but variant sources maintained by different people) that were merged to set up the repository on SourceForge in 1999(?). After that it looks like all development happened in a single (main) branch delineated only by TAGs until the current system of one branch per stable series was adopted just a little too late to catch the start of 4.0-stable Ethan |
