Seeking input for gnuplot article

I'm writing an article on the new features in gnuplot 5.1 for LWN
(https://lwn.net/). I would like to include some information on
gnuplot's developer community: who works on gnuplot, why do they
do it, interesting anecdotes; that kind of thing. Also, notable features
that are planned for future releases. If you are a gnuplot developer and
would like to contribute a few sentences along these lines, with or
