I have also found inconsistencies , especially line colours and line 
thickness, inconvenient.

I often work in wxt and then plot png or svg. It's annoying that they 
are so different. This can be overcome to some extent by explicitly 
defining rgb colour for each plot line etc. but it's a time waster and 
gets rather messy.

In fact this tends to mean that I don't use png terminal at all now. I 
use wxt clipboard button and past into a graphics editor to save a png.


Obviously, text extent is the other big inconsistency between terminals. 
If easing of the strict BC policy ( which is excellent BTW ) for the 
jump to v5 allows something to be done about text extent, that would be 
a MAJOR improvement.
