I feel your pain..!! I can't bear to move to a bitmap format, so...

I try to espouse EPS, from the epslatex terminal.

But it requires a LaTeX install- no probs for you, since you're in Linux... And miktex is easy enough on a PC...

And then there's the problem of embedding a preview so it's not a red X in Word; either a low res one, that looks terrible, or a high res one, that makes the EPS as big as a bitmap...

And then the recipient may not send to a PS printer or virtual printer, and the horrible preview gets printed.. :-(

Every time I go around this loop, it becomes clear the problem is.... Word...!!

I wish MS and Adobe could settle whatever spat it is that means you can't just drop a PDF into Word like I do in <any other program you can name> on my Mac...

Or, I wish I could make Word vanish, to be replaced by LaTeX....
