[Gnuplot-info] setting costum keys

Hi
It seems that "key" is the same as what I know as "legend". I have multiple plots in one chart. Problem is, when I set the keys, I see the full commands plus the line styles and colors. How can I set custom key for each plot? This is my command

unset key
plot "/path/to/data/file1" u 8 every ::2, "/path/to/data/file2" u 8 every ::2, "
