[Gnuplot-info] Manual key labels

Hi all,

I would like to manually alter my plot's legend as in the example you can
find here:

The line samples are automatically placed by the "set key" command, with a
blank title in the plot command (i.e.: "title ' ' ").
All the rest is placed manually by me as labels.

Obviously this is not an ideal way to do it as, for instance, everything
gets messed if I change the label font or the key spacing.

Do you have any suggestion to place those labels around the key fairly and
(almost) automatically?

I also thought I could build the entire key manually but cannot find a
command to simply display a line+point sample at some location.
