Something that could have been done instead of the "reverse" option is 
to have put control for orientation within the autoscaling syntax, e.g., 
[*:-*] just as with the non-auto-adjust.  It seems that has become 
overloaded anyway with specifiers like [30:40<*].  Whether that is 
better in the long run, not sure.  That means there can't be multiple 
xranges in a plot command unless the all result in the same orientation.

I see that the field is blank before even doing the plot, so yes 
probably a "show" issue...  I will look into the 'writeback' option as well.
