[Gnuplot-info] pm3d plots only triangles

Hi folks,

I want to plot a surface plot of the following file:
http://old.nabble.com/file/p34223810/population.txt population.txt

It is sorted by the first column and there is a line break whenever the
value in the first column changes. The format is:
x y f(x,y)
A normal splot yields reasonable results in 3D, but for better readability I
just want a surface map using pm3d. However, this yields only weird
triangles. Any ideas?
