For me, the utility is in convenience, not necessity. If I want to
embed a file in a presentation or email a file in a way that lets the
receiver recreate the graph, it's just easier to have a single file
instead of needing to manipulate multiple files, or combine them into
a container format (e.g. *.zip) then undo that on the receiving side.
