RC is always a good idea IMO. More flexible distros like Gentoo tend to 
include them and it will always bring up some issues so that has be to 
an advantage.

Gentoo boxes tend to be unconventional in many ways due to flexibility 
offered so they probably expose the software to a more hostile testing 
ground than the more homogeneous installations using other distros.
