Hello Mathias

I just searched my commit log for clues about using
persist as an option in my 'Gnuplot' class, but nothing
concrete came up.  So I can't really add anything
sensible to this particular line of discussion.  Sorry.

For the record, my gnuplot version is 4.4 patchlevel 3
and was built from source on 23-May-2011 using the then
stable version at that time.  My operating system is an
aging Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, currently with the Linux
2.6.32-33-generic kernel.
