[Gnuplot-info] Hide contour behind pm3d surface and grid on the xz and yz planes

Hi gnuplot gurus,

I am sure this has been answered already but I couldn't find it; please
forgive me for asking:

I have a data set I plot with pm3d. I defined the line styles in order to
change the color of the contour lines but i have troubles in hiding these
contours when the surface is "in front" of them making the picture somewhat
confusing (see the pic).
I tried with eg.:
  set pm3d at s hidden3d 3
but as far as I understood, this only is for drawing the data points surface
not the contours; besides I do not want the my surface plotted with points
or lines, I just want the pm3d surface
and also with:
  set  hidden3d
But I think this only works for axis and grid right ?

I would also like to be able to draw a grid on the xz and yz planes at each
xtics and ytics respectively (the set grid xtics ytics ztics plots the grid
only on the ztics for these planes)... This is secondary and I didn't do an
extensive search on that though :blush:
