OK, I've modified the Tcl script that generates the wave data to insert
two blank lines at each timepoint break instead of one, and that appears
to fix it. Now even with a constant number of data points at each time
step there are no cross isolines drawn. (But I'm still seeing no mention
of this behavior in the manual for version 4.4 I'm working with.) For
