[Gnuplot-info] floating-point variables

i have written a script for creating images from multiple files.when i use
floating-point variabe in eagh imag gnuplot says "internal error : STRING
operator applied to non-STRING type" .when i  use integer numbers it works
correctly. please tell me how to use floating-point variables in gnuplot
4.2(2008).the fowllowing is a part of the script.when k is an integer it
works but if it is floating-point number it will not work. k is a variable
which changes for  each image.
