[Gnuplot-info] multiple lines from batch job

I'm having trouble plotting multiple lines from a batch job.  What I would
like to do is draw multiple lines on a single plot where each line has
different X values.  I was thinking that the file should look some this:

plot "-" index 0 using 1:2, "-" index 1 using 1:2
# X Y
0 1
2 5


1 10
4 11
end
pause-1

When I try to run this with 'gnuplot "file.plt"' from the command line (not
the gnuplot prompt), I get an error "Skipping data file with no valid
points".  I've tried moving index 1 to its own plot command, so

plot "-" index 0 using 1:2
plot "-" index 1 using 1:2

When I do this, it only plots the data from index 0.

Any suggestions?
