just for curiosity: what does

gs -q -dNOPAUSE -dBATCH -sDEVICE=bbox myfile.eps

return? myfile.eps should be the name of your eps-file. Is the box gs returns 
correct in size (I.e. similar to the size you used for testing)?

if you really want to see the pictures above - use some font
with constant spacing like courier! :-)
