[Gnuplot-info] pm3d and hidden3d

Just a quick question whether this idea is possible:

I have data which I plot with spherical mapping and pm3d like
 $ set pm3d depthorder hidden3d 10001

This, of course, works fine. Now what I would like to do is to have the
lines of the surface separate from the colors to smooth the gradient like so

 $ set pm3d interpolate 2,2 depthorder

and plot the lines on top but with the original step width. So I interpolate
the color not the data.

Any ideas?
