[Gnuplot-info] scaled units in axis?

hi,
i use gnuplot for plotting some some data from boreholes (bores, wells,
drill holes, etc) into the earth, so want to use some sort of exact axis
scaling. in other words, the y-axis represents depth into the ground, and i
want one millimetre of my printed output to represent one metre of the
borehole. this would then be a 1:1000 scale plot. Or, maybe i want it to be
1:2000 scale. can this be done? my depth data are not always integers if
that matters.
