you need gnuplot 4.3-cvs, this version allows for "=" and "," in
expressions.

an example:

script:

reset
set xzeroaxis
xlast = xtemp = 0
plot "ts.dat" using 0:1 with linespoints, "" using (xlast=xtemp,
$0):(xtemp=$1, $1-xlast) with linespoints

datafile "ts.dat":

1

5
4
