Sure, go ahead and post a patch.
It is hard to tell much about how it works by looking only at screenshots.

Please describe more precisely what libraries or environment thie new terminal
would require.  
Does it use the KDE libraries, or just Qt?
If one built gnuplot with only the driver, would it be run on, say,
the OpenMoko mobile phone platform?  
What about non-linux Qt platforms?
