Dear listmembers,
trying to build the latest released version of gnuplot (4.2.3) on opensuse
10.3 causes issues.
The reason for this is buried in the app-defaults configuration:
1.) in src/gplt_x11.c there is a #define for AppDefDir that does not fit to
the configuration that is being used by opensuse
(/usr/share/X11/app-defaults).
Why not configure this via configure? I am sorry to have to admit that it is
unclear to me how to modify configure.in in order to make this parameter get
into config.h (this would IMHO be the appropriate location).
2.) in share/Makefile.am the app-defaults path is defined by
appdefaultdir = $(libdir)/X11/app-defaults
this should be overrideable by some configuration ( see 1.) ), the way it is
now does not comply to what is required by the opensuse conventions.
It would be great if someone could look into this,
thank you very much,
take care
Dieter Jurzitza
