Talking about PS/PDF compatibility issues, it seems to me that the PDF term options should be, so far as is reasonably practical, compatible with the PS options. I've noticed one departure. If you choose the "monochrome" option to PS, you get lines distinguished by dash patterns. If you select the mono option to PDF, you get a bunch of identical lines, unless you specifically select the "dashed" option.
