direction field in gnuplot

Hi list,

I learned from Maxima mailing list that direction field can't be done
in Gnuplot. That's quite a disadvantage for such a wonderful tool. The
solution in maxima is to used another app (xmaxima) for that matter.

I am wondering is this true in the latest CVS that gnuplot does not
support direction field plot.
