Many other programs already manage that just fine, Python scripts=20
included.  There are limitations to the piping concept, sure, but OTOH,
we're really in no shape to publish any library API other than=20
'do_line()' to the gnuplot core engine.  The command-line interface is=20
the only one that's anywhere near consistent and stable enough to be=20
useful right now, and that's distributed all over the program.
