Hey, it works!

 plot '< convert tux.gif rgb:-' binary filetype=rgb array=60x70 \
 format="%uchar %uchar %uchar" flipy u 1:2:3 with rgbimage
 
It would be nice if that long combination of options had some
shorter form, though.
