Dear all, I would like to make an animated graph by collecting snapshots. Let's consider following 2 column data named as temp.dat: Step Temp 0 122 100 102 200 112 300 122 400 153 500 143 600 111 700 132 800 142 900 152 1000 102 1100 112 What I want to do is 1) obtain 12 snapshots in which the 1st snapshot file has just one point, (0,122) and the 2nd snapthot have two points including former (0,122) and next (100,102) with lines, and the followings have same rule. So the final snapshot file is same one as what plotted using "p[0:1100] temp.dat u 1:2 w lp". However, my problem is that I can't fix the x range to [0:1100] when making 1st through 11st snapshots. All snapshots should be same x or y range to give an animated effect, but I can't draw a point with fixed range. Does anybody know how to handle it? Thanks. Joe

I think writeback or restore option in xrange cannot help to solve my problem. For example, set xrange[0:1100] (with any option) p 'temp.dat' u 1:2 w lp #last snapshot # to draw 1st snapshot, i use p[0:100] 'temp.dat' u 1:2 w lp # then the range of x immediately change to 0100 not fixed range of 01100. I can't do that by using xrange option. In the help, They used funtion such as sin(x) and x/2 not a data. Here is a point. >From one data, I should draw part of one graph under fixed xrange. To do so, I have to use p[0:100], p[100:200], and so on. Then I can't fix the xrange.
