[Gnuplot-info] gnuplot won't plot

I think I changed something that has stopped gnuplot from plotting. I'm usi=
ng a linux system.

here's what I get after I start gnuplot:

    G N U P L O T
    version 4.0 patchlevel 0
..
..(opening stuff)
..

Terminal type set to 'x11'
gnuplot> plot sin(x)

gnuplot: unable to open display ''
gnuplot: X11 aborted.

Looks like you seriously broke your X11 configuration, likely by 
fiddling with the setting of the DISPLAY variable.  Can you start any 
XWindows programs from inside a shell?

As a work around you could try the wxt terminal.

set term wxt
test

John -- both X11 and wxt terminals work fine here (ubuntu 13.04)

You might try reinstalling gnuplot-X11.

Hey John,

Are you saying reinstall gnuplot AND X11? I'm pretty sure X11 came
preinstalled? And this might sound but how would I uninstall it?


Also, gnuplot works when I run it from the X11 window which I guess is a
good sign?

So I'm still relatively new to terminal so my bad for the barrage of
questions. The command that you show on your last comment does not work in
my terminal?
