[Gnuplot-info] How to plot HeatMap by ourselves?

Hello,

I want to plot some data in my own program, just like using the "set pm3d map" statement in gnuplot.
But I find that it is very complicated to transfer from a double value to a RGB triple.
It is not linear, and not symmetrical among R, G and B.

Could you tell me the formula?

gnuplot uses the z-value as gray-value and then converts the gray-value
into a color by using a palette.

have a look at
http://www.gnuplot.info/docs/node215.html
or get the gnuplot source code and figure out how the color mapping
is done.
