this is a plea for a (no)mirror option for minor tic commands.

I would like to be able to write for example the following:

set y2range [-2:4]
set y2tics  -2, 1.0, 4 mirror
set my2tics 2 mirror   <====

I try the following:

set yrange [-40:0]
#            start  increment
set ytics in -40,   10 nomirror
set ytics out add ("" -3.01)
set mytics 2

The result is that all thicks are outside.
This is wrong: I specify all tics (mayor and minor) as in,
only one mayor ticmark at -3.01 is out.

This mean the in|out describer is procedural and not declarative.
I find this wrong.

[Gnuplot-info] unsetting multiple objects

Dear,

at the moment, when one unsets an object that doesn't exist,
gnuplot generates an error and exits. It would be better if
gnuplot would generate a warning saying unsetting is unrequired
since the object doesn't exist, and that gnuplot continues operation.

What also would be great is an enumeration possibility in the unset
argument. Eg: between consecutive plots of a multiplot plot:
 unset label 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9
instead of
 unset label 1
 unset label 2
 unset label 3
 unset label 4
 unset label 5
 unset label 6
 unset label 7
 unset label 8
 unset label 9
or better:
 unset label 1:9

i don't see anything wrong. i tried to reproduce your problem:

a file named 'ts.dat' has the content:
1	0.67	0.04
2	0.27	0.09


1	0.67	0.05
2	0.39	0.05


in gnuplot i executed the following commands:
set xrange [0:3]
plot 'ts.dat' index 0 us 1:2:3 w yerr, 'ts.dat' index 0 us 1:2 w lp
plot 'ts.dat' index 1 us 1:2:3 w yerr, 'ts.dat' index 1 us 1:2 w lp

and got two plots each with 2 points with errorbars and a connecting line.

I am still playing around with gnuplot, trying to figure out how to use it=

under my data requirements. =20

Right now, I am trying to figure out how to plot two y data points, a "befo=
re"=20
and "after" type of data vs the two-state x-axis required.

The data acquisition software I use puts all the data into distinct columns=
 of=20
all the y data from "before" in the first column, all the y data from "afte=
r"=20
in the second column, and the difference between the two in the third colum=
n=20
(but this 3rd is dispensible)

=46or each run I get 12 individual datapoints for "before" and 12 for "afte=
r". =20
I determine the mean and stddev and then wish to plot this data as either=20
points with yerr, linespoints with yerr, or boxes (histogram) with yerr.  T=
he=20
latest iteration of my attempt to accomplish this is to create a csv file=20
containing:

1	0.67	0.04
2	0.27	0.09


1	0.67	0.05
2	0.39	0.05

and so on.

I THOUGHT I understood 'index' such that if I specified that I wanted to pl=
ot=20
the top set of numbers (x:y:yerr) that all I had to do was:

plot 'filename' index 0 using 1:2:3 with yerr pt 6 ps2   (or something=20
similar...though how does one specify yerr with linespoints or boxes - all =
I=20
ever get when attempting either is 'conflicting with' or something along th=
at=20
line)

Instead of what I expected from the above plot command, two points plotted=
=20
with error bars, one point at x=3D1, y=3D0.67, yerr=3D0.04 and the other at=
 x=3D2,=20
y=3D0.27, yerr=3D0.09, I get ONE point at x=3D1, y=3D0.67, yerr=3D0.04.  I =
have tried=20
playing with index such as "index 0:0", no index, "index 0:1" etc, just to=
=20
try to get a consistent outcome.  If I use no index, then I get a set of=20
points ONLY at x=3D1 and nothing else.

What am I misunderstanding about index and why is the '2' in the second row=
=20
ignored?  In this plot, 1 means "before" and 2 means "after". =20

I have another question to build from the previous and one question on gene=

usage.  First, now that I can plot each column separately and above the=20
appropriate x-axis label, if I then wanted to connect the two points with a=

line how would I do this?  They are in separate columns...

=46inal question relates to adding error bars to the plots.  I have been ab=
le to=20
get error bars plotted with the points but so far I had to do so in a=20
separate plot overlay, ie:

plot './datafile.csv' using 2:3 with points pointtype 6 pointsize 2, '' usi=

2:3:5 with yerr

I have tried what SEEMED natural but it errors out:

plot 'datafile' using 2:3:5 with points pointtype 6 pointsize 2 yerr

When you need to plot data using multiple parameters that use the "with"=20
command, how do you do it when the gnuplot commandline wont accept them all=

in one line/command string?
