So write yourself a script that takes the file name, and parameters 
describing the position of that value, as command line arguments.  Do it 
in what ever scripting language you like.  Then read "help substitution" 
in gnuplot.

Hi,
I want to get a single value from a data file to use it as a constant:

a = "this value is the one that is in the file.data"

And then I want to plot the column 2 * this value.I have so many data files
to do an script for each one.

plot "file.dat" using 1:($2*a)

Any idea?

2. Первичные документы по учету автотранспорта в организации. Формирование инвентарного объекта "автомобиль". Формы ОС-1, ОС-4а, ОС-6 по автомобилю. Автомобиль, запасной комплект шин, сигнализация, магнитола - один объект или разные. 
3. Оценка при приобретении за плату, при получении транспорта в качестве вклада в уставный капитал, при безвозмездном получении, при приобретении по договору мены. Вычет НДС - сложные вопросы, новшества 2006 - 2007 гг. 
4. Получение автомобиля в пользование без перехода права собственности - налоговые выгоды 
5. Автомобиль как основное средство - срок полезного использования, переоценка, амортизация, модернизация и дооборудование. Новое в бухгалтерском учете автомобилей. Коэффициент амортизации 0,5 по автомобилям стоимостью больше 300 000 руб. и пассажирским микроавтобусам стоимостью более 400 000 руб. - игнорировать нельзя, но можно нейтрализовать. 
6. Аренда автомобиля - оформление и налогообложение у арендодателя и аренлатора. Особенности аренды у физических лиц и других организаций. Аренда автомобиля с экипажем.  
7. Лизинг автотранспортных средств. Особенности выкупа автомобилей. Налог на имущество и транспортный налог в отношении объекта лизинга. 
8. Расходы на сигнализацию, запчасти и ремонт автомобиля. Капитальный и эксплуатационный ремонт и техническое обслуживание. Техосмотры. Учет автошин. Запчасти - особенности списания. Учет расходов на автостоянки - новое в 2007 г. 
9. Расходы на ГСМ. Нормы - миф или реальность. Обоснование расходов на ГСМ по путевым листам собственного образца. НДС при покупке ГСМ за наличный расчет.
10. Особенности оплаты труда водителей. Разъездной характер работ. Надбавки за разъездной характер работ, сверхурочные. Рабочее время и время отдыха водителей. Оптимальные режимы рабочего времени водителя.. 
11. Страхование автомобилей - КАСКО, ОСАГО, "зеленая карта". Списание страховых взносов в расходы. 
12. Оценка автомобиля при списании. Первичная документация.

Hi,

I have a data file like;

-250. 1 lig1
-210. 2 lig2
-150. 3 lig3
-50.  10 lig4
-25.  15 lig5
0.    20 lig6

I want to make a figure (histogram) in which the first column is X-axis, the
second, Y-axis (or the height of each X). And the third column is the label
I want to give to each X value (or column in the histogram) so it appears on
the picture.

Is it possible to do this ?

[Gnuplot-info] break in the y-axis!?

hi!
I'm want to plot data that is only interesting between 60 and 62.5 on the
y-axis, so it is actually pointless to show data above or below this
interval. but I want the y-axis to start with 0. 

my question is: how can I start the y-axis with 0, then have a break in the
axis and continue with 62 until 63?

y-axis:

Read "help pm3d" and "help with image" in the gnuplot online help system.

Okay, I made it by using "xticlabels".

But can anyone tell me how to rotate the labels (in particular if I use them

Hi,

I'd like to put strings instead of numbers on the x-axis. I've got some data
where each name (string) refers to a value. Is it even possible to plot
this? I tried to plot a data file where the first columns contains the
names, the second the values, but I get the error message: x range is
invalid

I have to disagree.  histeps is simply the wrong plot style for this 
input.  'steps' or 'fsteps' would be a good deal better.

The horizontal edge for the bin [20:30] should go neither from 15 to 25, 
nor from [sqrt(200):sqrt(600)], but from 20 to 30.  Expressing this by 
an x position of 25 and then letting gnuplot reconstruct the original 
boundaries is quite circuitous.

Hello all,

I've been doing some scatter plots by providing a file with two
columns of numbers to gnuplot through a script. I would also like to
be able to do a linear regression on the numbers and plot the result
along with the scatter plot.

Is there a way to do this through gnuplot?
