[Gnuplot-info] Problem with date format

Hi folks,

I'm using the Debian version of gnuplot 4.2 patchlevel 2.

I have a file (data.dat) with two columns. The first contains 
dates and the other contains measured data:

03/03/2007 89.8	  
04/04/2007 85.4
05/05/2007 79.0
12/06/2007 78.3
18/07/2007 77.0
13/09/2007 65.6
29/12/2007 65.0

I wish to graph my data (y axis) against the date (x axis).
I want the x axis to show day of the month and the month, and
 increment weekly. So I use the following list of commands:



set xdata time
set timefmt "%d/%m/%Y"
set format x "%d/%m"
set xtics "03/03/2007",604800 # number of seconds in a week
plot "data.dat" using 1:2 notitle



The output isn't what I expect. The major tics all seem to round to
the first day of the month and several minor tics appear after each
major. If I change a few things around --- for example, change the x
format to other units, change the increment size, etc, the same thing
happens. All xtics round to the nearest first of the month.

The data itself plots correctly

I've looked through the documentation but I seem to be missing
something fairly obvious. Can anyone help?

hi,

you chose 'set term pslatex auxfile' as terminal.
'auxfile' means that the postscript code is written into a separate file and
included
later when producing the document with latex. so the graph is in the
postscript  file
"varyingPeriod.ps", but all the text is in the latex file
"varyingPeriod.tex".

see 'help set term pslatex'.

Hi all,

Thanks a lot for Gnuplot, first

It is about six mounts that I get acquainted with gnuplot and sound very
fabulous to me. 

But, I have some problem in reproducing plot in postscript format I employed
the following codes; But I just could see the graphs itself(just lines) but
numbers and titles(in both x,y axes) are not included in the .ps output
file. I thought I forgot some subtle command? 

I had a glance on the demo/ dir but could not found any instrumental
command!? could

Never mind.
Clear user error. The range definition must come before the function
specification.

[Gnuplot-info] internal error: substring range specifiers must have integer values

I am getting the following error message when trying to fit a simple
linear fit.

gnuplot> f(x) = a + b*x
gnuplot> fit f(x) [0.1:1.1] 'presregcal.dta' via a, b
         internal error: substring range specifiers must have integer
values 

It has something to do with the range specification, but I don't see the
reason.
I am using

        G N U P L O T
        Version 4.2 patchlevel 0
        last modified March 2007
        System: MS-Windows 32 bit

Any suggestions?

[Gnuplot-info] Finer palette gradient

I'm wondering how to specify a finer palette gradient (in 4.2). With
the default palette, it is very difficult to distinguish between a
z-value of 1 and a z-value of 0.94, for example (they both look
yellow!). Is there anyway to have the palette use more distinct,
separate colors?

Using 'show palette palette 100' seems to produce what I'm looking for.
Unfortunately, I'm not sure how to turn around and use that information
in my graph.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

[Gnuplot-info] Incorrect ylabel in PNG

Hello,

With the example
http://gnuplot.sourceforge.net/demo_4.2/textrotate.1.gnu I got a png
file with ylabel characters flipped vertically(mirrored).  The order of
characters were correct.  The tics and xlabel were correct.  The fonts
were Arial of TrueType and the OS was  SunOS 5.8. 

If the terminal was set  to X11, then all labels were correct. 

Anyone knows how to get the correct ylabel for PNG?

Трудно представить себе современную, успешную компанию, которая бы не работала бы с заемными средствами. Самым популярным финансовым инструментом привлечения заемных средств является банковский кредит. Основной акцент будет сделан на семинаре на вопросах отражения в бухгалтерском учете именно банковских кредитов. Кроме банковских кредитов организации привлекают заемные средства путем выпуска ценных бумаг (векселей, облигаций и др.); заимствуют средства друг у друг; дают ссуды своим сотрудникам. Бухгалтерский учет кредитов и займов всегда вызывал и вызывает определенные трудности.

- материальная выгода по договорам займа, выданным физическим лицам. Порядок исчисления суммы материальной выгоды по НДФЛ.

By specifying it.  See "help xtics" (and upgrade to 4.2 if you don't see 
'font "name{,size}"' in there).

[Gnuplot-info] plotting datafile as separate series

I've got a datafile divided up into different indexes.  Is there a
simple way to get these to plot as separate datasets without have to
duplicate "using" and filename for each index?

(Obviously I can do something like: plot "myfile" using
(1e3*$1):(1e3*$2) index 1, "myfile" using (1e3*$1):(1e3*$2) index 2,
...)
