I did set timefmt %s and set xdata time. I will look at timecolumn. Do you have an example of it's use? Maybe the documentation for "commands set timefmt" should reference timecolumn. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Need Mail bonding? "set terminal" of gnuplot 4.2 doesn't show "x11" on Ubuntu 7.04, although that of gnuplot 4.0 showes. How can I set terminal to "x11" for gnuplot 4.2? Hyunchul |

When doing calculations on a date field the results are increased by 30-years. I am guessing this is from gnuplot storing time as an offset from 1/1/2000. set format x "%D %a" set timefmt "%s" set xdata time # The following plots correctly plot '-' using 1:2 1170316800 32.1089031339031 1170403200 31.7189458689459 e # The following plots with the dates 30 years off plot '-' using ($1):2 1170316800 32.1089031339031 1170403200 31.7189458689459 e ____________________________________________________________________________________ Get your own web address. set style data histograms plot "< echo a 2 && echo b 4 && echo c 3" u 2:xtic(1) plot "< echo a 7 && echo b 5" u 2:xtic(1) Note the letter "c" in the bottom right corner of the second plot. It should not be there. It shows up if there is more data on the first histogram than on the second one. A workaround: set style data histograms plot "< echo a 2 && echo b 4 && echo c 3" u 2:xtic(1) reset set style data histograms plot "< echo a 7 && echo b 5" u 2:xtic(1) -- -- JNR |

gnuplot-4.2 "set ?range [] writeback" does not work correctly when reading time data from a file. Jan Schween wrote: > i had a segmentation fault due to long recursion of a function. > Actually that was an programming error on my side but this should > not result in a segmentation fault. There's not much choice in the matter. This segmentation fault is caused by stack overflow, which is impossible to predict in any portable fashion. We would have to introduce an arbitrary limitation of call stack depth, and for that limit to work, it would have to be decided by the smallest stack size on any platform running gnuplot. I.e. we would deliberately break scripts although they could still work on platforms with bigger stacks, for the sole benefit of ill-written scripts. The last time this issue came up, we decided to leave it as-is. |

Hello, i had a segmentation fault due to long recursion of a function. Actually that was an programming error on my side but this should not result in a segmentation fault. I could reproduce the problem with this function: iter( x , i ) =3D (i =3D=3D 0) ? x : iter( x/2. , i-1 ) calling iter(.) with a noninteger i makes the i=3D=3D0 test never true ..= =2E ------------------------------------------------------------ Dr. Jan H.
