Hello, I have a HP LaserJet Enterprise M604. I’m using it on an iMac running High Sierra. Also using a virtual machine running Windows 10 via Parallels. My settings are to use the Mac printer for everything. Recently, I noticed that PDFs print really slowly. Do you have a driver that you would recommend I try? Hello I've just downloaded and installed Gutenprint on a Mac running OS 10.6.8. I haven't a clue how it works or if it will work in this case. I have a Canon LaserBase MF3110 printer and having just spoken to Canon support been told that this printer never had a mac driver. Would using Gutenprint enable printing and if so, how would I sett it up? Dear Gutenprint team, I would like to ask you about help with driver for DNP DS620. We need to run your driver on Linux, but we miss some driver features that are available just for Windows OS ( http://dnpphoto.com/Portals/0/Resources/PrinterInfo_1.2.1.1.zip). Please could you recommand me a person who can help us with it? We are ready to pay for development if it's needed. No, I haven't forgotten about it. Unfortunately, we've hit some snags on the Macintosh side, and that's where the most critical problem with 5.2.14 lies, so we have to resolve that before getting any further. -- Robert Krawitz <rl...@al...> *** MIT Engineers A Proud Tradition http://mitathletics.com *** Member of the League for Programming Freedom -- http://ProgFree.org Project lead for Gutenprint -- http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net "Linux doesn't dictate how I work, I dictate how Linux works." --Eric Crampton |

The driver supports basic status and media reporting via the standard CUPS marker attributes. If this is not adequate for your needs, the driver can dump everything in a textual format. This is how: BACKEND=dnpds40 /usr/lib/cups/backend/gutenprint52+usb -iIns (if you're using gutenprint 5.3.x, that should be '53' instead of '52') More information can be had here: http://git.shaftnet.org/cgit/selphy_print.git/tree/README (search for 'BACKEND=dnp_citizen') - Solomon -- Solomon Peachy pizza at shaftnet dot org Coconut Creek, FL ^^ (email/xmpp) ^^ Quidquid latine dictum sit, altum videtur. |

My old Mac is max’d out with OS 10.5 and my old printer (Photosmart C6180) keeps paper jamming. I need an all-in-one printer that can FAX New printers don't have drivers for my old Mac, and a new Mac probably is not possible now. I’m looking for either • A compatible second-hand printer. or • A newer printer that I can get a driver for Mac OS 10.5 or • Someone, near Pittsburgh PA, who can fix my old printer Can you help? |

I'm sure there are thousands of them in use, but, I guess only being run from Windows machines. Sorry, there is no support for these types of printer in gutenprint, and not likely to be in the future either, since we have no volunteer to handle a new protocol entirely (UFR II). > Can you please tell me what to do to find a way to print from the Mac to this wonderful printer/copier? The specs say the supported languages are; PCL5c, PCL6, UFR II So if you wish to use a PCL5c or PCL6 driver, that might be a solution for you, without any special functionality though. Alternatively, a virtual machine with a compatible OS might work. Best regards, Gernot Hassenpflug |

Hello, I just got a Mac with Mojave (OS 10.14) pre-installed. It is unclear whether Gutenprint was still the culprit or not as the process kept timing out. However I did not get other error messages which specifically mentioned any other software except Gutenprint. Sorry for the delay in responding. I now have access to my computer and printer. I am not sure why you got the message that Gutenprint was not compatible. I don't think that Gutenprint is causing Migration Assistant to fail. I would think that you would get a dialog box asking if you wanted to Quit or Continue if it was a sever problem. It could have also just sequestered the software. MacOS installers often do that. As I mentioned before, I too have had problems with Migration Assistant hanging up and giving the spinning beach ball. I have had enough problems with MA that I always do a migration by hand. The one exception was this past migration when I had to use a Time Machine backup. My old computer just died. > I ended up migrating the data by hand — a tedious process but I needed to move things along. > > At this point I believe I still have Gutenprint 5.2.14 installed. I am running 10.14.3 on a 2018 MBP. Happy to test some stuff for you if that helps. I’ll be offline through Fri or Sat this week. Sorry that you had to do it by hand. That is normally the way I do it any. Slow and tedious but much more reliable. The second issues you raised is easy to answer. Migdration Assitant has *never* worked correctlly. At least Apple's installers don't erase all third party software any more. In any event, even now the Migration Assiostant wipes out thirdd party software receipts. That is why the uninstaller does not work. Every time you insetall software, it leaves a receipt in a hidden directory that lists all the files that were installed. It is this receipt that the uninstaller uses to delete the old files., No receipt, no uninstall. >> >> Tne first part of you issue is more difficult. That means that it uses a proprietary printer language that Gutenprint does not support. A volunteer would need to step forward to write a driver for this. -- Matt Broughton wal...@ma... |

Dear Sir or madam, I'm using a Macbook Air with macOS Mojave and would like to use/install a Brother HL-1030 Printer. As it is not listenend among the supported printers on http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/p_Supported_Printers.php I tried Brother HL-1040 - CUPS+Gutenprintv5.2.14. However, it doesn't print at all. I wonder whether you could provide a Brother HL-1030 printer driver, thus helping /me/ spare the expenses for a new printer and the /natural/ /environment/ the accruement of avoidable waste. Thank you very much for the time and effort you take for me. Yours faithfully, Alexander Zanabili Alexander Zanabili, M. A. Brother also claims to supply a native Linux driver. (See https://www.brother-usa.com/products/HLL3210CW#specifications) Another option is to use the printer's networking features (including full IPP support!) which should JustWork(tm) in a driverless manner with relatively modern Linux distros. - Solomon -- Solomon Peachy pizza at shaftnet dot org Coconut Creek, FL ^^ (email/xmpp) ^^ Quidquid latine dictum sit, altum videtur. |

It's possible that this would work with the generic PCL5c driver in Gutenprint 5.2.14, but it appears that it's likely a GDI printer using a proprietary language that we don't have a way to support. There's no harm trying the PCL5c driver; if it works, please let us know.

Is it possible that this printer will work in the future with this driver, if so is there anything I can do to help? Sent with [ProtonMail](https://protonmail.com) Secure Email. |

Hi dev team, I've been looking around the web to no avail regarding how to remove the file mentioned in the subject line from the my Mac's trash. I'm sure you understand what I'm talking about and look forward to any help you could provide. Kind regards, Mr. H. Bergsma |
