I'm almost done adding support for the intermediate spool format that 
the DNP Windows drivers utilize.

Still need to get a suitable test rig set up, but I'll get to that later 
this week.

We don't explicitly list support for the 5550, but it's quite possible
that the 5500 driver will work.  Please test it and let us know.

LaserJet 2100?  That's supported by Gutenprint.

All drivers from HP site when installed print several pages of code/errors

eg.  usually %!PS-Adobe-3.0 Query….. is the start

can you point me to one of your drivers that will work please.

I have a Xerox Phaser 5550 and i want to install Mojave and later the new Mac OS Catalina on a Mac Power Book Pro 13 inch with Touch Bar.
Can i use gutenberg to print with these new Mac OsX.
I do not know if the original Xerox printer driver is 64-Bit compatible.

Or alternatively, base64-encode it (which will be text that I can
decode into binary).

Please don't hexdump it.  The raw binary will be more useful; I have other tools to parse it.

Thanks for the report. Very interesting. Glad you are able to use the
iP3500 on your system.
Never had any such report before though (and the printer has been supported
for many years).

Could be something to do with the linux or Rasberry Pi USB library, not
sure though.
Do you have any other older Canon printers. I have/use a MP450 and this has
been quite good, although also some hangups very occasionally in the past.
I can try and see if these options have any effect on the current working
state of my MP450.

I don't know if this option is available in CUPS (do you use CUPS on
Rasberry Pi?) and whether we should include such a workaround/suggestion to
users in the gutenprint install/readme files.
Worth discussing though.

Hello,

I have a Canon ip3500 Series and used the driver provided by you awesome
people of gutenprint.
I'm running this on a Raspeberry Pi as a printer/scanner/pi Hole server.

Here's some debug information about how I got the printer driver for Canon
ip3500Series to work:
I had to set my USB to unidrectional using the following commands:
lpadmin -p Canon_ip3500_series -o usb-unidir-default=true
lpadmin -p Canon_ip3500_series -o usb-no-reattach-default=true

Without those two, my printer would hang halfway on the incomplete jobs and
would need a hard reboot.
I hope this can be of help for some experimental drivers as it's probably
as "feature" with some Canon models.

The current release is 5.2.15; you should upgrade to that although I'm
not sure whether that will fix the problem (one of the Macintosh
people should be able to say more).

No; the GIMP plugin doesn't currently allow expanding either dimension
beyond that of the page.

Hi ! 
I’m using above driver but I ran in some settings problems. 

When printing from Apple Photo I can’t set the contrast / brightness etc. The selection is there but I can not select a value from the drop down (values are blurred). Manual input doesn’t work either.. Fine adjustment setting works though. 

When printing from GIMP 2.1 I can set the contrast etc but I can not expand the page to get the whole page filled… it sticks to the photo format.

Am I doing something wrong here ? 

Can you help me out please.

Please try using the HP Color Inkjet Printer CP1700 driver.  That
driver is identical except that it supports up to 13x19" media.  If
that works, I'll update the entry in 5.3 (5.2 has had its last
release).

You should be able to set a custom size by selecting Custom as the
media size.  Unfortunately, it's currently hard-coded for a maximum
length of 19".  You can edit the appropriate entry in
src/main/print-pcl.c and recompile; if larger sizes in fact work, we
could raise the limit.

What version of Gutenprint?  What printer?

This paper size is referred to as "Super B" in Gutenprint.  It appears that A3+ is the same:
