Gents,

After more than 7 years being able of implementing change-after-change on hotmail and hotmail live, I need to give up on the latest changes. There's no way I can reasonably patch GetLive further to fetch mail. So I guess that's the end of GetLive.

I have no clue how many users I still have, but I'm sorry to all of them.

As the latest CVS now is capable of handling 'outlook', I think a new file release was more than appropriate !

The latest CVS contains a first skeleton for handling the transition to Outlook.

It just works for fetching messages in the folders. And even then.
The coming days, based on feedback, I will continue working on it.

Dear users,

I started a new version 2.0 which is available as file download and on CVS.
It is supposed to address all the problems occurring in august and september.
Including now marking read, moving to folders etc.
Based on my accounts checking it should be fully functional again.

I'm sorry that it took more time than usual to cope with the MS changes. The changes were a bit more drastic than before, and I was short of time.... read more

For those not following the discussion forum :
To cope with the latest changes you need to set your mode to 201003.
(so Mode=201003 in the config file)

Based on all the inputs I got from you, users, I was able to fix this further.

I believe the current CVS drop should be as good as fully operational.

Do not forget :

- You have to make sure by going manually to your account that there is not the one or the other welcome page. It happens every now and then.

- You have to make sure reading panes is switched off.

- You have to include 'mode=200902' in your config. (for those accounts that fail recently)... read more

The current CVS contains a version that should fix the changes that MS is rolling out starting in October 2008. As soon it is sufficiently validated, I'll make a release of it.

Please note that :
- you should go once to your hotmail account that is impacted and pass the warning page. Also check the box asking to never show that warning again.
- your config file should contain 'Mode = 200810'

The problems due to the recent changes made by MS should be solved in this release.

Kudos to Aaron Stemen who submitted a key patch on which the changes are based.

Since late June, beginning July, MS is rolling out a changed version of their hotmail live.

Current version of GetLive cannot cope with it.
I'm devoting my free time on getting this fixed but it is a major change.

Currently I'm reverse engineering the 'protocol'.

If someone wants to help : use a version 2.0 firefox, with the live http headers extension , and analyze the url and 'generator' part for several actions (next page, getting an email, going to a box etc etc).... read more

To accomodate for the instability of the latest days, I released a quite revamped version : Release 0.50.

Although I tested it on some 6 different accounts (with different language settings and varying age) it probably should be considered as *really* beta.

As announced, it will furtheron only support Live mailboxes. Older ones you'll have to convert (which is lossless) if you want to use GetLive.... read more

As many of you might have detected, GetLive has become unusual unstable. This is clearly due to MS moving all boxes to a Live Login mechanism.

Although I'm working on it, it might take some time before I'm able to cope with this new situation.

Please do not submit requests for help of bugs for the moment. I won't read them :-).

Additionally, I will in the future only support live mailboxes. I opened a thread about that on the 'open discussion' forum :

MS changed their interface and you might get stuck with older versions.

GetLive (http://sourceforge.net/projects/getlive) is a perl script that fetches mails from your hotmail or hotmail live account. With todays beta release 0.5 GetLive has reached near feature parity with gotmail and can act as a replacement.
