Hi,

RAW mode, Network use.
I set the wrong FTP password.

When I enter the dialog Config Filename, it attempts to retrieve existing files, but fails (wrong password). The error given is too generic (ie the title is "upload failed" which only makes sense when saving a backup).
After that I should be returned to the main menu.
Instead I am shown the "enter new filename" dialog.

Thank you.

Even if I cantel "enter new file", the dialog to actually type the filename is still shown, I have to cancel that as well.

Actually, the message is correct as part of getting the list of exist files, it
uploads a file that marks the end of list, and that fails due to bad userid, or
bad password, or no write access to directory.

In most cases, just entering the IP address is all that is needed if the ftp
server is on the same network. You can enter more info if you want.
I just tried it in Virtual Box and for the IP address entered
    192.168.128.100 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.128.255

Could add the error status that is just 1 that it failed to connect. Doesn't
return any more info about what the issue was, and the message does say to
check userid and password and that write access is available.

I understand the innerworkings of G4L now, but you can understand a user's perspective and why this would be confusing.

On a sidenote, the "END OF LIST" file should not be shown as a possible candidate when selecting filename.
If I were to choose by mistake or confusion, the backup could be broken the mext time one tries to choose filename.

      thank you.

If I recall correctly, it was to avoid a bigger error if the directory had no files,
but would have to see what the error was, but recall that an empty returned
        list would cause a problem.

Since ncftp only handles those error codes, there is no way to figure out
exactly what the error message is, and that is why it says to check the
username , password, and write access.
