I like GPL, except I just wouldn't want anyone to be able to apropriate them and lie about their autorship; but I have no idea about those "proper attribution" licenses versions, it gets very complicated already. Plus I red in sourceforge rules, that by publishing a project on it's webzone you agree to make it GPL, so it seems that at least as long as it's there, all the stuff is GPL, unless of course this rule doesn't apply to multimedia. Will you grant us the permission to select some of the >images that are immediately useful to include them as a graphical mod >with 0.9.3? Sure, I don't want to stop or block Free Col. To the contrary. My utimate aim however, is not to make some "Misiulos" graphics set, I'm rather interested in developing and making the best default set of graphics possible (I'll put my pride on the shelf this time), it'll be great if others like the author of the current set agreed to colaborate with me in this; If you look on FeeCiv, it has got loads of graphics sets both isometric and 2D but only 2 of them, maybe 3 look decent; the rest is just amateurish filler. And I think 2 maybe 3 graphics sets, but REALLY good ones is all Free Col will ever need; please notice the commercial strategic games usually have only one set of graphics, and they rarely provide alternatives, if anything they rather leave open doors for users to mod them, like the Civ series. And FreeCol graphics needs all the help it can get. Regards Michal |
