Yes, this is really good looking, specially the mountains: ftp://ftp.freeciv.org/pub/freeciv/contrib/tilesets/freeland/freeland-big-2.0.0.png But I think freecol should look a little bit more cartoon-ish, like the original colonization was, and so it also fits with the current units graphics. Unfortunately I don't have good artistic skills so I can't help with graphics. But you are right, the hills and mountains currently used are not so nice, and should be improved. I found a few screenshots of the original game: http://www.ibiblio.org/GameBytes/issue21/misc/colstra.gif http://www.ibiblio.org/GameBytes/issue21/greviews/colon1.gif http://www.ibiblio.org/GameBytes/issue21/greviews/colon2.gif http://web.tiscali.it/squakenet/screen/colonization.jpg http://media.classic-gaming.net/screenshots/normal/2/29-1.png http://www.grenier-du-mac.net/copiecran/1_c/Colonization2.jpg http://www.grenier-du-mac.net/copiecran/1_c/Colonization3.jpg http://www.grenier-du-mac.net/copiecran/1_c/Colonization4.png See how that looked like a cartoon?
