You've got wrong impression - there is no new CMS, it's new design and 
content.
FireCMS from DQTeam was used, it is in production for several years.

FYI - 80% of time we spent with content justification, moving and layout 
adjustments.
This work is not 100% finished and it will be continued while Firebird 
Project will be alive.

There are already too many abandoned and outdated resources which create mess for search engines and newbies.

PS I hope you are not offended with my conclusions. After several years in Borland, Embarcadero and Microsoft I've got the habit to say things in very straightforward way - it saves a lot of time. We must care about Firebird Project, not for the pleasure for anyone.

bitweaver has been doing that - using Firebird - for many years now.
I even presented papers on this at previous Firebird conferences. But if people 
want to waste their time reinventing the wheel every time then I don't see there 
is anything I can do about that.

NOBODY responded to my messages about the fact that we HAD got a functional 
system already working they just went ahead creating yet more new lists and the 
like and so why should I waste my time any more. I'll just beef up the 
alternative wiki site and get it running again - in a place where other parties 
can't simply keep killing it off !!!!!!! At least THAT is what open source IS about.

I hope you don't really expect that idea you wrote somewhere and abandoned several years ago will be magically transferred into the others minds?

If you don't fight for your idea (or better pay for its professional implementation, like IBSurgeon did with new site for Firebird), it will never become the reality. It's open-source world - "do it yourself" principle.

After new site deployment you will have the second chance - participate in this list and drive your changes.

Technically new CMS is flexible and powerful to implement large online magazines and government sites.

years. All of this had already been done, but nobody was interested :(

Current data transfer from old site to the new site is almost complete.
There are following areas in process:
  - in Development - QA, Documentations for developers and .NET/Python 
drivers
  - Old news - we will transfer old news for a while, now at 2009-2008 
level.
-  in About Firebird -> Features description, is in progress
-  Grantee reports from old years
-  Some minor content adjustments

Also we need to manage setup for daily snapshot uploads.

For regular site updates, like adding news or new FF members/sponsors, 
dedicated person from DQTeam will manage data adding/changing, until 
other site contributors will learn how to use CMS.

Actual transfer and redevelopment is almost over, now web-site 
redevelopment is about "intellectual" re-writing and new content creatiion.

Such process will be run constantly, and there will be always gap 
between ideal site and good-enough site.

I ask everyone to join the action now, look through the site thoroughly, 
and then provide actual help in order to jump over gap and switch to the 
new site in the next few days, and then go to the Phase 2 - improvements 
and extensions.
Old site will be live for a while, of course, so no content will be missed.

I suggest stopping using atkins, and replicate all the lists to newsgroups using gmane.org
