For doccers and other people who may create links to the licenses: > /ipl/ -> /en/interbase-public-license/ > /idpl/ -> /en/initial-developer-s-public-license-version-1-0/ Sergey has created the redirects, so you can use the following urls to point to the licenses: http://www.firebirdsql.org/ipl/ http://www.firebirdsql.org/idpl/ Both work with and without trailing slash. Maybe, but still... there ought to be a law! :-) > If you need short urls, let's do them through redirects OK, if Sergey, Olga or you would make these redirects: /ipl/ -> /en/interbase-public-license/ /idpl/ -> /en/initial-developer-s-public-license-version-1-0/ BTW, if specified as above, will they also work for /ipl and /idpl (without terminating slash)? Hello Alexey, > Dmitry, > > Please also send your version of docs building system to me. Dmitry didn't change anything in the building system. The system is in CVS (in the manual module), but parts of it (manual/lib and manual/tools) have to be downloaded and unzipped. Instructions are in said directories. Detailed build instructions are in the Docbuilding Howto. > I think we need to have virtual machine with pre-setup doc building system. > Now setup of whole doc system looks very long and complex. We doccers have no problem with it. The current issue about the wrong LangRef version has to do with sources, not with the build system. There's nothing wrong with installing a build system on a VM, but there's no big advantage either. All the docwriters and translators have installed the build system on their own computers, be it Windows, Linux or whatever. As I said, the build system comes with the module. Since we write on our own computers, it's also the easiest to build on our own computers. I strongly suggest that you don't waste any time on this now, especially since there's still a lot to do to get the new site in order. And again: we, the people who have to work with it, have no problem with it. Cheers, Paul Vinkenoog |

Perhaps when I work out why FB2.5 is broken on a number of my sites I might find time to look at yet another distraction from getting some real work done! Just maintain access to the old site since much of that information is not yet available on the new one, and in time I might be able to write some instructions for myself to FIND that information on the new site. -- Lester Caine - G8HFL ----------------------------- Contact - http://lsces.co.uk/wiki/?page=contact L.S.Caine Electronic Services - http://lsces.co.uk EnquirySolve - http://enquirysolve.com/ Model Engineers Digital Workshop - http://medw.co.uk// Firebird - http://www.firebirdsql.org/index.php |

Please provide us with list of links to pages you refer as outdated. >We have a 2.5 point release coming up, with no clarity about how the Download page will be available, either. During migration Olga Popcova created all pages at Downloads, including recent 2.1.4 minor release. Send content to be updated to Olga with CC to me and everything will be done. Dmitry, Please also send your version of docs building system to me. I think we need to have virtual machine with pre-setup doc building system. Now setup of whole doc system looks very long and complex. Regards, Alexey Kovyazin > Hi Paul, > >> It looks like you didn't commit any of your changes to CVS; is that correct? > Correct. As we were field testing the new site on firebirdtest.com and many links are absolute, my copy contained all the links changed to the new structire but prefixed with firebirdtest.com. As you see, this is not something to be committed :-) Now we have to change the prefix to firebirdsql.org and it could be comitted then. > > I will send you my working copy (with the changed links) soon, so that you could validate the changes and move the work further. I won't be able to help in the next couple of weeks. > >> Also, did you only modify the sources and upload the generated content as-is, or did you have to post-process the HTML as well? > I've modified only the sources and the generated files have been uploaded. > >> Another thing: most<ulink>s that point to within the Firebird site are either relative (in which case they can stay as they are) or absolute local links into the /manual or /pdfmanual trees. /manual and /pdfmanual (and a couple more) are symlinks to the real locations. They were created for two reasons: >> >> a) to save use some typing >> b) to make them independent from the real paths >> >> I.e., by creating a handful of symlinks on the new site, these links don't have to be updated at all. > All the absolute paths have been changed to fit the new site structure. All the relative paths were left "as is". If they don't include the root folders (manual/pdf/etc) they are OK. Otherwise they need a correction as well. > >> On the new site, in the web root directory, manual should point to file/documentation/reference_manuals/user_manuals/html, and pdfmanual to file/documentation/reference_manuals/user_manuals/ > The locations were changed the folowing way: > > firebirddocs -> /documentation/reference_manuals/user_manuals > refdocs -> /documentation/reference_manuals/reference_material > rlsnotes -> /documentation/release_notes > papers -> /documentation/papers_presentations > > The PDFs are in the root location, HTMLs are in the /html subdirectory. The language specific versions are suffixed with the language ID and placed in the same location (similarly to the old site). All the file names are the same between old and new site versions. > > > Dmitry > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > Simplify data backup and recovery for your virtual environment with vRanger. > Installation's a snap, and flexible recovery options mean your data is safe, > secure and there when you need it.
