Afterinstall page for 2.0.7, 2.1.5 and 2.5.2 -------------------------------------------- Key: WEB-91 URL: http://tracker.firebirdsql.org/browse/WEB-91 Project: Web site Issue Type: Task Reporter: Pavel Cisar Assignee: Alexey Kovyazin Windows installer usually opens URL http://www.firebirdsql.org/afterinstall/ that's redirected to http://www.firebirdsql.org/en/afterinstall/ For 2.0.7, 2.1.5 and 2.5.2 installer uses URLs: http://www.firebirdsql.org/afterinstall/207, http://www.firebirdsql.org/afterinstall/215 and http://www.firebirdsql.org/afterinstall/252, however, these urls (except for 252) are redirected to common http://www.firebirdsql.org/en/afterinstall/ which defeats the purpose of this change, to have separate content urls in Google Analytics for these releases. These urls should be redirected to: http://www.firebirdsql.org/en/afterinstall/207 http://www.firebirdsql.org/en/afterinstall/215 http://www.firebirdsql.org/en/afterinstall/252 These pages should have the same content as http://www.firebirdsql.org/en/afterinstall/ for now, but may have different content in future. We also need the fix for 2.0.7 ASAP, as it's about to be released shortly. 2.1.5 will be released this month (RC1). -- This message is automatically generated by JIRA. - If you think it was sent incorrectly contact one of the administrators: http://tracker.firebirdsql.org/secure/Administrators.jspa - For more information on JIRA, see: http://www.atlassian.com/software/jira |

Mark, >Ok, good to know. I will prepare the information and make a ticket as soon as I am possible. >Am I correct to assume I should put the files on sourceforge myself? Ok, good to know. I will prepare the information and make a ticket as soon as I am possible. The beta will also appear in Maven (if only to check if the whole deployment works right), but I first need to find a solution to JDBC-244. A test snapshot is available from the Sonatype OSS snapshot repository (see my message http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/Firebird-Java/message/10570 ). Mark -- Mark Rotteveel |

Hello Mark, Simply put to the tracker in Web section materials to be published - text, links, new item, etc. If you wish to manage this page yourself, we can arrange login/password too, though it seems more reasonable to delegate this job to professionals. Btw, when 2.2 will appear in Maven - after release only? I am preparing a beta release of Jaybird 2.2 and I would like to know what I need to do to get it listed on the firebirdsql.org website and get updated information at http://www.firebirdsql.org/en/jdbc-driver/ Thanks in advance, Mark -- Mark Rotteveel |

It's certainly possible, but it may cost a lot of time to set this up (*), and who is going to do this? Also, the docs structure is not cast in concrete. Sometimes things change from version to version, so some kind of human monitoring and maintenance will be necessary. I also wonder how big the advantage would be for our users and if it's worth it. Sometimes I google on a MySQL function and the first hit takes me to the documentation, but of the "wrong" version. If that's a problem, I go to the right version via the documentation index. Or I include the version number in the search to begin with. What you propose is a nice feature, but I don't think the benefit will be huge. That said, if anybody wants to investigate and maybe implement it, please do! I'll be happy to help with information, but I'm no going to work on it myself. Cheers, Paul Vinkenoog (*) To give you an idea: the 2.5 LangRef Update alone consists of 256 separate web pages, most of them with a bunch of internal link targets as well. And that's just one of our many docs. |

I was thinking about this being automatic. Docs structure is known, the links can be either hashtable or two-way as well (link==>document and vice versa, based on i.e. topic heading). -- Jiri {x2} Cincura (x2develop.com founder) http://blog.cincura.net/ | http://www.ID3renamer.com |
