Whats the state with the opml thing? I hadn't had time the last weeks to do anything on it. Maybe this week, but i can't promise anything. pong. at the moment 630 is working most of the time without this nasty effect, but it still is there. should we announce it as beta? it has so many improvements over the version on the web. and beta says 'do not use unless you are totally sure'. Trying to syndicate my weblog, i found that other newsreader - bottomfeeder can manage with atom feeder (that is the name of the thing in blogger) but feedreader can't. Well, my question is: Can really feedreader manage with it or it's just a matter of "my abilility" ;) If it can't, will the feature be added in future versions? I really like feedreader appearance and simplicy, much more than bottomfeeder. Congratulations for your job. And sorry for my english. As you can see, I'm waiting for the spanish version ;) pablo

|

Hello, I'd like to draw your attention to this issue which bugs me for quite a while (apart from this, Feedreader is my favourite rss aggregator): Feedreader can't decode dc:dates like 2004-01-31T10:40:27Z (see http://rss.orf.at/fm4.xml ), which is a valid date format and widely used, but instead it displays the date/time when the rss was fetched. Surprisingly even 2004-01-31T10:00:00+00:00 (see http://slashdot.org/index.rss ) does not work (it differs IMHO only in the +00:00 from others which are interpreted correctly)... I filled bug #793310 a long time ago, if this is already a known bug, please ignore this issue. (looked at the sources [XX_DecodeDate the scapegoat?] but I'm not familiar with Delphi) Thanks for you efforts in improving Feedreader though! (how about releasing a new binary? I think most of us would love to see the 'z triggers fullscreen'-fix in action :P) Gottfried Haider PS: Please CC me as I am not subscribed. |

I have about 100 feeds and headlines.xml is about 5 megs.. I noticed that if there is this big problem with feedreader (ot showing toolbar and...) all feeds have x mark in their icon. That means feeds are not available. Maybe something is wrong in feed updaste process. I will try to work it out soon... One possible place for error is below. This change is done by me. What I wanted to do is to have feedreader window bringed to front if it is behind other windows. Problem could be that if this procedure is called from thread then something goes wrong. Maybe we should get rid of following lines : if self.Visible then begin application.bringtofront; ---->>>>>>>> SetForegroundWindow(Self.Handle); ---->>>>>>>> BringWindowToTop(Self.Handle); exit; end; old version: procedure TMainWindow.actShowWindowExecute(Sender: TObject); begin if self.Visible then exit; AnimateTrayIcon( False ); if MainWindow.WindowState = wsminimized then MainWindow.WindowState := ws; CoolTrayIcon1.ShowMainForm; application.restore; application.bringtofront; SetForegroundWindow(Self.Handle); BringWindowToTop(Self.Handle); end; new version : procedure TMainWindow.actShowWindowExecute(Sender: TObject); begin if self.Visible then begin application.bringtofront; SetForegroundWindow(Self.Handle); BringWindowToTop(Self.Handle); exit; end; AnimateTrayIcon( False ); if MainWindow.WindowState = wsminimized then MainWindow.WindowState := ws; CoolTrayIcon1.ShowMainForm; application.restore; application.bringtofront; SetForegroundWindow(Self.Handle); BringWindowToTop(Self.Handle); end; |

Nicole Simon <ni...@gn...> wrote: >I am trying to write a little awkscript to purge all read headlines to trim >my headlines down - I have had one week no feeds :o( Okay, it seems as if it IS a problem of the size of the headlines.xml. Assuming that 760 MB of memory just for FR is enough, I suggest you dig there. :o)) I purged all read entrys and now have a 3,5 mb file instead of 13. First test don't show the problem I have described before But I can't always purge all my read headlines cause then fr will refresh them and set them to 'unread'. What does FR need to identify 'this one, I do already know'? this line? <hlid>63211189031578</hlid>
in this case I could keep this line but purge the rest of the article to get down space. (Feature request: delete single headlines in headline view) ~~~~~~~~~~~+~~~~~~~~~~~+~~~~~~~~~~~+~~~~~~~~~~~+~~~~~~~~~~~+~~~~~~~~~~~+~~~~~~~~~~~+ Cutting down the space needed: > ><headlines> > >
> > <hlid>63211189031578</hlid> > > > >
Get rid of all the empty lines (^p^p) and lines with just spaces in them (^P ^P). Reduce "^P " to "^P " This reduces 5 MB to 4,4 MB in my case. Nicole -- http://www.useful-sounds.de/ - http://beissholz.de |

Hi! By the way, I really have not changed anything. But then i'm looking at stalled feedreader, it looks like something is wrong at the very low level. On thing is that toolbar is missing and even if i click "exit program" and say "yes", it does nothing. And it does not respond to any keyboard events and stuff... At the moment feedreader does not show any error messages (it's done this way). Maybe it's good idea to show error messages temporarely. Then at home i will look into this and release newer build with this capability. Greetings Toomas > > My bet goes to the thread management somewhere. Toomas, did you change > something in there? I started Build 630 for the first time 5 min ago and i don't have any problems. Feeds get updated like the builds before. Do you still have problems? Karsten |

When does this 'runs fast through my feeds'-thing happens? On updates or when 'Mark all read'? > It does update feeds at the top of the list but not if you go down the > list. if you do it manually, they do update. > > the 'only update every xxx' seems to have some effect also. > Do you mean it updates feed at the beginning and then stops somewhere down the list? What do you mean with 'go down the list'? You start the update and then move through the feedlist? This could be a hanging thread. We have this thread monitoring on the todo list. Looks like it go up in priority :) Karsten |

The last version to which i have committed code to was 627. Then Toomas did an update to cvs on ... hm, this email is saved on the pc ;). But i think it was on monday. I just updated my sandbox and build a new version. This is build 630. I didn't looked at the code, so i can't tell what changed. |

Has marked all my feeds read (and it does not come back like >it did the other time.) hm. did go back to 617 and had this happening! perhaps it is not made to handle this much feed information?! toomas, how many feeds do you have? my headlines.xml is about 13 mb. It does update feeds at the top of the list but not if you go down the list. if you do it manually, they do update. the 'only update every xxx' seems to have some effect also. i still have the toolbarsettings in mind when things go wront, so I deleted my toolbar.bin but it's the same. :o( Nicole -- http://www.useful-sounds.de/ - http://beissholz.de |
