A ,mpo file contains multiple images (an arbitrary number of them). Each image has its own EXIF data. Exiftool only reads the EXIF data from the first image. While much of the data are the same between images, its not all necessarily the same. For instance, a .mpo file created by my Fujifilm FinePix Real 3D camera stores the parallax data only in the second image.

I'd be interested in seeing a sample as well - the way FujiFilm does this for HDR images in recent cameras is that there is only one complete set of EXIF metadata and any differences are stored in a header.

BTW, and for my reference, this is mentioned in the MPF tag name documentation: https://exiftool.org/TagNames/MPF.html#MPImage although I don't expect anyone to find this. In other cases like this ExifTool issues a minor warning to inform you that the -ee option may provide more information, but I haven't done this for MPF.

Can you provide a sample image just in case Phil doesn't already have a useful sample?

Add the -ee option to extract information from additional embedded images.
